Oisans is situated at the crossroads between the Northern and Southern Alps. The area sits astride two départements: Isère and the Hautes Alpes. The main route between Grenoble and Briançon (the RD 1091) goes through the village of Livet et Gavet (500m altitude), followed by Bourg d’Oisans (750 m altitude), the main town of Oisans, in the heart of the 6 valleys.
The village of Allemont, in the Eau d’Olle Valley, is the gateway to Savoy and the Maurienne via the Col du Glandon and the Col de la Croix de Fer. This village, 720 m high, is nestled at the foot of the Massif des Grandes Rousses, just a few kilometres away from the resorts and ski lifts.
Bourg d’OisansBourg d’Oisans, a vast plain surrounded by sharp cliffs and amazing geology, is the geographical and administrative capital of Oisans. It is also the main entrance to the wild nature preserve of the Ecrins National Park.

Livet et GavetThe commune of Livet et Gavet, located in the Basse Romanche valley between the imposing Taillefer and Belledonne mountain chains, is the main gateway to Oisans. It is made up of three main hamlets: Gavet, Rioupéroux and Livet.
