-Backcountry ski touring

With its specific geographic diversity, Oisans has a number of varied itineraries enabling ski touring from the very first snowfalls on the plateau areas through to mid-May/early June at high altitude.

To the north, on the border of the Savoy region, a whole area of mountains and small massifs, like Belledonne, Sept Laux, Grandes Rousses, Emparis, Galibier, offer their rather gentle contours, with peaks reaching to between 3000 and 3500, ideal for easy excursions.

To the south, the Ecrins massif (4102m), notched by two high valleys, Romanche and Vénéon, is more suited to beautiful, high altitude routes.

In Oisans, you can enjoy all forms of backcountry ski touring:

- initiation over slight relief: Emparis plateau, Vallon de l’Alpe, Villard d’Arène, Chatelleret, les Etages or la Pilatte.

- Peaks and passes of varying degrees of difficulty are accessible on skis: Combeynot, Goléon, Meije Orientale, Grande Ruine, Agneaux, Ecrins, Col du Pavé, Fétoules, Rouies, Col des Avalanches, Gioberney, Pilatte glacier....
