The Bourg d’Oisans museum, with its 600 m² of exhibition space and two permanent collections, is one of the top museums in France thanks to the variety of its collections, the renowned mineralogy (a vocation closely connected to the history of ‘crystal hunters’) and its scenery.

Alpine wildlife: an exceptional presentation of the Ecrins National Park, comprising 150 regional species (chamois, marmots, ibex, diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey, etc.), in a peaceful atmosphere accompanied by bird song. The museum also features a presentation of local mountain fauna and a live exhibition of local river and lake fish (fario trout, minnows, arctic chars, etc.) in five aquariums.

Minerals: this collection of Alpine minerals is the largest in France and features some quite extraordinary specimens. The quality and abundance of minerals from Oisans is known the world over. The museum displays this fabulous cultural heritage and will fascinate visitors with the exceptional quality and beauty of the exhibits.

Open all year round, the museum features a film theatre, a computer area, interactive terminals and a shop.
