-Night skiing

Fun in the snow doesn’t have to stop at the end of the afternoon. A choice of evening and night-time activities are open to everyone; new sensations are guaranteed!

Several resorts have a range of night-time activities on offer. You can either choose to race down the ski and toboggan runs, or, for those who prefer the peace of the open countryside, moonlit Nordic skiing or walking are ways of getting closer to the nocturnal wildlife of the Alps...

Night-time tobogganing is on offer at Alpe d’Huez, where the ‘Butte de l’Eclose’ is specially lit up to provide a fun area for tobogganing with family and friends. It is open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Night skiing: skiing or surfing on specially prepared runs under the stars is another way of enjoying the pleasures of winter snow.
- Alpe d’Huez: the latest in lighting techniques from the Signal stadium allow for night skiing on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm (in winter), and from 6.30pm to 8.30pm (in spring). Located in the heart of the resort, this approved stadium hosts high-level competitions, night-time entertainment and shows. 1250m long, and with a 250m descent, this run is accessible to intermediate and experienced skiers and includes a Big Air and a slalom run.
- Auris en Oisans: once a week outside of school holidays, and on Mondays and Saturdays during the holidays, the ‘Bochets’ run is open for night-time skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing.
- Les 2 Alpes: Night skiing on the lit ‘Lutins’ run is on offer three times a week.
- Ornon: These are real night-time celebrations that take place in the resort of Col d’Ornon. Every Thursday evening, you can ski down the blue run between 7pm and 8pm for 1 €, followed by mulled wine (1 €) and then feast on one of the local specialities (tartiflette, fondue or raclette) in a nearby restaurant (L’Eterlou or Le Schuss) at a cost of around 15 € per meal.

Full moon evenings in Les 2 Alpes combine the pleasures of moon-lit skiing with those of a party, in the company of members of Les 2 Alpes ski patrol at an altitude of between 3400 and 2100m. Sunset skiing at the top of Les 2 Alpes glacier; a celebratory dinner in a mountain restaurant; then, once night has fallen, skiing down to the resort. A 1300 m descent lit only by the moon... and, to round of the adventure, mulled wine awaits your arrival! This is a unique experience in France, which enables you to see the resort from a different angle as well as enjoying the wonderful sensation of night skiing. The cost of a full moon evening, including ski pass, the meal, visiting an ice cave and the mulled wine, is 40 €. For details concerning the dates, please contact Les 2 Alpes Tourist Office.
