La Bérarde Situated at the end of a road full of character, La Bérarde is the gateway to the major sites of La Meije and La Barre des Ecrins, making it a mecca for mountaineers and a departure point for scenic hikes into the heart of the massif.
La Meije Surrounded by glaciers, the North face of La Meije majestically overhangs - from a height of 3982 m - the village of La Grave, officially recognised as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France.

The Bourg d’Oisans plain The plain dates from the ice-age and is dominated by spectacular Alpine folds with perched villages that bear witness to the area’s prestigious mining heritage. Silver, gold and then rock crystal brought wealth to Oisans from the Middle Ages right through to the begininng of the 20th century.
